Peter Kinley
Peter Kinley (1926-1988)
Born Peter Nikolaus Arthur Eduard Schwarz in Vienna on 16 July 1926. Evacuated to England on a Kindertransport in 1938, later serving in the British Army from 1944–48. Studied at the Düsseldorf Academy 1948–49. Attainted British Citizenship in 1947 and changed his name in 1950. Studied at St Martin’s School of Art from 1949–53, where he taught from 1954 onwards. Kinley had several exhibitions at Gimpel Fils in the 1950s, before leaving London in 1970 to teach at the Bath Academy, Corsham Court.
