Title: ‘A Bloomsbury Square’

Description: An original watercolour, signed by the artist lower right and dated (19)37. This would have been painted in the time he was living in Fitzroy Street, in the Bloomsbury area of London, after his work had been taken on by The Redfern Gallery. It is quite possibly a view of Fitzroy Square Garden. We acquired this painting in the 1990s and it had been framed sometime prior. The work had previously been in the collection of the artist’s widow, Elizabeth Suddaby. It is in ‘studio condition’ as the paper has some creasing but we have decided to leave it untouched.
