Title: ‘Cockerel at Night’ – 1956

Description: An original painting in mixed media (watercolour, pastel and inks) on paper, titled by the artist in ink on the reverse of the paper and inscribed ‘WOLFRAM’ recto. The cockerel, and chickens, have featured in the artist’s work over more than forty years. Similar examples were included in Martin Bradley’s show at The Redfern Gallery in 1956. The painting is in good condition with fresh, unfaded, colours. We have had the work reframed to a high standard including the fitting of Artglass UV WW ‘invisible’ glass with optimal UV protection. It was framed previously in a 1960s/1970s frame which had in ink on paper the artist’s handwritten title and date of 1956, which has now been transferred to the back of the new frame.
