Description: An original oil painting on board, depicting the River Thames at Richmond, Surrey, with figures enjoying a walk along the towpath. The painting is signed by the artist at lower left centre and dated (19)54. It is also signed again by the artist on the reverse, titled there, and the artist has also recorded his then address in Mt Ararat Road, Richmond. 1954 was the year Petley-Jones settled permanently in the UK. The painting is in very good condition having been lightly cleaned professionally. The frame is original to the work and has been refurbished to retain originality but improve the presentation.
