Title: ‘The Quay, Los Cristianos, Tenerife’ 1937

Description: This oil on canvas painting resulted no doubt from the artist’s continued patronage by The Redfern Gallery, who facilitated Jonzen’s travels to paint in Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands during the 1930s. It is signed and dated (19)37 lower left, and is titled on the stretcher to which is also added the name of A. J. Elverson, presumably an earlier owner. The canvas had some crazing to the paint, and a few flakes of loose paint, and we had the painting lined and touched in in a relatively minor way. It is now in excellent ready to hang condition. We also had a new hand finished frame made for it, with gold leaf to the edge.
