Stanley Jones

Stanley Jones, MBE (born 1933, Wigan)

is a well known lithographer and painter of abstracts, and Master Printer and Studio Director at The Curwen Studio which he helped establish in 1958. He studied at the Wigan School of Art 1950-54, at the Slade School in London 1954-56, and at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris 1956-58 before moving to the Atelier Patris, Montparnasse where he gained much experience in stone and zinc plate lithography and was also fortunate enough to work with major artists including Giacometti and Severini. Stanley Jones has exhibited widely in the UK and overseas, and his work is held in many public and private collections including The Tate Gallery. He was a founder member of the Printmakers Council in 1964 and one time President of that group.
