Ernest Hamilton Amor

Ernest Hamilton Amor (1889-1967)

was a painter in oil and watercolour of town and coastal scenes. He had a highly distinctive and engaging style. Amor studied at the Slade School in London in the mid 1920s and later exhibited a number of paintings at the Royal Academy between 1954 and 1964. He also showed with The Redfern Gallery in London W1. Most of his work was of street scenes in central London and of Ebury Street in London SW3, where he lived for many years. He sometimes painted on the coasts near to London, including in Whitstable.
